350 vortec questions

its a 5.7L vortec motor in a 97 yukon gt.

my third gen is tpi so i dont really know a lot about this system. How much do stock vortec heads flow? and whats going to be the first restriction? i would have to think the stock throttle body first of all and nextly the intake and air box ducting.

Whats a good upgrade i can do to the motor to let it breathe a little better, long tube headers and 3" exhaust in the future. But not looking to touch cam or heads.

Re: 350 vortec questions

The heads flow well at the intake, but so-so on the exhaust side. Not sure about the intake, but the exhaust is likely the biggest restriction at this point. Headers and a larger, free flowing exhaust will help the power. The intake and air box will probably have minimal impact on the power output. Might want to also check out another message board with more specific info on the truck itself. Im sure theres other mods that can be done.
