1/4 times

Hey guys I was just wondering if any of you had and time slips from running a stock 305 TBI. I tried searching the web and could only find stuff for TPI and 350 motors. I'm going to go to the track soon to get a baseline, I'm thinking low 16's maybe high 15's or is that too hopeful?

Re: 1/4 times

I had almost identical results with my LO3 with T5 and 3.08 posi. Mine was bone stock last year when I ran it at 16.303 @ 84.26mph. My reaction time of .747 needs a little work though. It was also dynoed at 143hp and 225lb/ft.

Wow 15.4 isn't bad for for a couple bolt ons. Some vortec heads and lower gears would get you into the 14's for sure I would think. My goal is to get my 305 into the 13's all motor and then I might spray it or do a weiand blower with a 750cfm carb.

Re: 1/4 times

I went to the track for the first time ever in my 91 Firebird (auto, 2.73's, 90,xxx mi.) last fall. Car had a full tune-up, 14x3 open element, 160* stat, and 6* advanced timing. On a nice cool 65-70 degree night here's what I ran:

R/T: 0.587
60ft: 2.22
330: 6.531
1/8mi: 10.122
1/8mph: 65.51
1000ft: 13.233
1/4mi: 15.857
1/4mph: 84.9

i was honestly expecting low 16's at best since it was my first time ever at the track, so i was impressed with what i got. i think if i had a couple more passes i could have gotten the R/T time and 60ft. down a bit. i think the car had a few tenths still to be taken out with practice, maybe 15.5-15.6.

Reaction time doesn't change the 1/4 time.

Basically stock, except flowmaster muffler, and open element, I went 15.7.

i realize that. but its kind of embarrasing to say that you have a half a second reaction time.
