L31 specs

just wondering is there a difference in power between the l31 sfi and tbi

IIRC there is about a 40hp difference between the L05 and the L31.

yeah but the SFI sucks wet donkey *****. I'd take TBI over that anyday. I own a 96 silverado and I absolutely hate the SFI. The intake is restrictive as hell, performance parts are an almost not going to happen scenerio and if anything breaks, i.e injectors or what not you have to practically disassemble the top end to replace them. To me the ONLY reason for the performance differance are the heads and cam. If the SFI engine had the same stuff, the performance would be equal to, if not worse than an L05.

im going exactly the opposite with mine... L31 cam and heads on an L05 shortblock with a modded TBI.

ok i dont think you guys understand my question..... ok you know how the l31 with the sfi fuel system has the specs of 255hp and 330tq well i was wondering will i still get 255hp and 330 tq if i use the tbi fuel system instead?

With the right tune, absolutley. Hell step up to either a LT1 cam for just alittle more kick or if you're feeling brave and your tuning skills are good; use a production LT4 cam or go ZZ4 cam. I can see an easy 300hp with vortec heads and either one of these cams.
