project 3 fitty
my dad owns a 1990 gmc with a tbi 350 and i have a 1989 305 Tbi camaro they both have around 85k miles on them,he says i can have his 350 as long as i give him my 305 and install it in his gmc. but hell its got me thinkin real hard how difficult is the computer and **** two hook back up, ... i would really love having the extra 40 hp alone not two mention the potential of a 350
and i would love two keep it TBI because going carb twice is going to cost some $$$ i think this project would be worth it in the end, i have been reading the important/useful305 to 350 and that helps i will probably get a tbi handbook as well and try two learn some more befor i atemp this project.

a blind retarded monkey could do this. as long as you keep track of all your wire hookups and make sure you don't brake anything it should be a complete "bolt-on" deal. I wouldn't worry about it to much. two things to consider now that I'm thinking about it are. Are the computers the same part number and do both vehicles have VATS? If the computers are the same then I believe all you have to do is swap chips if not then swapping the computer as a whole is no big deal either. If you have VATS and the truck doesn't then that could be an issue I believe.

the truck/van ecm is a '7747 or a '7746 and the car would be either a '8063 or an 8746. they wont directly interchange, however 89 9c1 caprice ecm engine settings can be put into the camaros ecm, and vice versa to the truck. the broadcast codes would be needed for both ecms and a short visit to moates.net should do the trick.
