Will a stock 1989 5.7 TBI work correctly in my CJ7?

I have a lead on a 5.7 TBI motor and will be able to pull the motor, ecm, all sensors, accessories and harness myself. Assuming that I do not damage the harness, can I drop this in my CJ7, wire it up and go?

I believe it's a 700R4 and my CJ is a T176, will this be a problem with driveability?

Is the timing computer controlled? If yes, can I swap in an earlier model HEI?

This is all new territory for me. If this is a huge project I may install an Edelbrock performer and carb until I address the other major issues with the Jeep.
