Better Cam than Stock for 305?

Hey guys i was thinking of switching the weak stock cam for a better cam but i have no idea what i should get. any ideas? and also how much of a horsepower difference would a upgraded cam make and hopefully gas mileage won't go down too much since this is my daily driver lol.

The LT1 cam is a good one, however you'll need an electric fuel pump for it, and you can find the cam cheep, and it will allow you to keep the same heads. There is a section or two about this in the LT1 cam digest thread and in the common TBI mods thread, those should help with some good information too.

Re: Better Cam than Stock for 305?

why do you mention that he needs an electric fuel pump? I know the LT1 cam doesn't have a fuel pump lobe on it, but why would his TBI not have an electric pump already? :S

I would also recomend the LT1. I have seen both the imp ss lt1 cam and the z lt1 cam in a lo3 running awesome w/ a stock tune. i would assume if your going for the lt1 vette cam, you'd better tune it. i think a tune, no matter, should be done with any cam swap
