scored a 350tbi, but a little lost

I ended up finding a 350tbi. the deal is that the alternator sits on the left where the ac compressor thing was sitting on the stock 305. so what im wondering is will they switch over. will i have to rig the wiring and ac lines.
Also where do you guys think i should get the 350chip from.

Use all of the front dress items from your original engine. This way it all bolts back together stock. For a chip try one from a '90 Caprice with the L05 engine.

thanks man, thats what i was thinking of doing, just wasn't sure if i could just switch over the accessories or if i needed to switch over the whole assembly. For the record it had the power steering on the top right, and the alternator on the top left running with 2 belts. therefore, would this be an older block. any idea how to tell the year of the block.

Is a two piece main rear seal or a single? Take a look at the block casting numbers to the right of the rear of the china wall. Older blocks will also have a four digit casting date in that area, but it is not precise since Gen I blocks span decades. Also, on the front left head block deck surface (just before the head) there should be partial vin and engine RPO designation stamped. With all four bits of information you should be able to determine build date of the engine.

Well i found the numbers but it turns out it a 305. a little bummed but for getting a good motor for free i cant bitch too much. Atleast i can get my car running again. I'll just buy a 350 block and build that as I can. thanks for the help though.
