Spark plug wire

I started my hooker 2055 removal/install process yesterday and while I was taking off the spark plug wires I noticed (#2 I believe) had electrical tape on a section of the wire, so I unwrapped it and there is alot of cracking and breakage underneath the wire, could this have been causing a problem? I didn't notice any problems before I found this problem but could this have been causing a small loss of power?

Re: Spark plug wire

I'd say it definitely could have been a problem. I had a wire with a cracked boot like yours and once I ran all new wires I felt a boost in performance. I'd change those wires asap
