question about ECM for TBI
my camaro has a 8746 ECM for a 305 but I found a ECM out of a 93 caprice Part #16136965. Prom # AXFF 0233 for a 350. I have 350 injectors already in my TBI and was wondering if this ECM will work with my camaro and if so would I need to switch around any wires or anything

'89RS
6965 I/O is similar to 8746 ECM. There are several additional circuits that were implemented in 93 B-bodies not found in your late eighties??? Camaro. The following is a difference list.
ECM '8746 | '6965
C2 Air Select Valve | AC Compensation Relay Control
C8 not used | Power Steering Pressure Switch
Even though AXFF has 350 calibration the 93 B-body tipped scales just over 5000lbs. Spark curves in these big cars are probably conservative. Also these cars used 700R4 or 4L60 (not E).
If you have to comply with emission testing some of your AIR system will not work correctly.

Re: question about ECM for TBI
I live in NC so I am not 100% sure what they check on a 89 model car I think they do a visual but not sure about everything else. Also my 89 RS has a 700R4 transmission also. Would the extra things make the SES light stay on because its looking for equipment my car doesn't have? If its going to be a problem i will just keep looking for either a EBL or a chip to go into my 8746 ECM for the 350

Non of the aforementioned differences between the two ECM's should cause SES to stay on. AIR is used infrequently (cold engine). For the most part you should be OK. EBL is definitely a big move in performance capabilities and ease of tunability.
Check with RBob about AIR operation.

to be honest, I think EBL would be way above my head with tuning that thing, I was really looking for something that would work and be plug and play type of thing so I wouldn't have to tune anything in the chip

Re: question about ECM for TBI
I run EBL'ed 6965 ECM in my '75 3/4ton. The difference between stock 350 tune and what I am running right now made a markable improvement in drivability. You can take stock '6965 and run with it, but you will be limiting full potential of your ride. Factory tunes have to meet fleet emission requirements over hundred of thousands of cars. Hence, conservative tune is a defacto standard.
I would go in stages. First drop '6965 in place of 8746. Get some miles on that combo. Second, I would locate another compatible passenger (8746 or 6965 or similar) car C3 ECM and convert with EBL. The data logging offered by the EBL is unmatched by the stock C3 ECM. Tune your ride with EBL. For smog inspection drop stock ECM unless you have a radical engine combo (cam, heads, exhaust, etc)
