TBI Fuel Problems
I have an 82 Z that I bought dirt cheap im trying to get her up and running. I have replased the fuel filter and a couple of lines as well as one of the injectors however when i try to start her the injectors will fire at times other times they wont. I dont have a computer tester or anything im doing all the work with basic tools. Has anyeles had the same problem or have an idea on how to fix it?

Re: TBI Fuel Problems
The Injectors are spraying sometimes? or the motor tries to fire up sometimes? You're going to want to check the fuel pressure, these cars often have fuel pump failure.
Easy check to see if the pumps even coming on: turn the key on start position(without cranking) and towards the rear of the car you should hear the fuel pump buzz for a few seconds. If not, you need to drop the tank and replace the pump, usually around $100 for the pump.
Edit: Just because the pump sounds like its working doesn't mean its ok, just means its not completely bad.

Re: TBI Fuel Problems
Ok ty hopefully I dont have to replace the pump I really cant afford to drop another 100 bucks into her. I found the destributer cap was bad so im replasing it and the fuel filter was leeking so the injectors are giving gas like there suppose to know. Hopefully after i replace the cap shell fire right up. BTW shes for sale if anyone wants her lol.

Re: TBI Fuel Problems
Hey i was wondering if u guys could help me out also i believe im having a feul problem too, i drive an 88 rs with a 350 tbi swap, i bought the car a week ago so i do not know the history on it, here are my symptomes.. it star it up it drives fine for about 5 minutes then it will sputter at about 4k rpms and at about 1200 rpms, this is what i have replaced. map sensor , tps , 2 injectors, feul pump, feul filter, regulator, iac sensor, air filter. iv replaced too many parts for it to not be running right. its also running a little rich. and when it warms up the the rpms will fluxuate at idle between 600-900 rpms. maybe when they put in the 350 they didnt put in a 350 ecm? would that cause my problem? where is the ecm located and how do i figure out of its a 305 or 350 ecm.

Re: TBI Fuel Problems
ECM 8063. You need a 350 prom. However 350 cid Caprice cop car is a 1228746 from what I read. You may have to swap ECU or have a chip burned for 8863 with proper changes.
I edited ECM 8063.
I found a def file at Tunercat asnd craig moates site.if you wish to learn how to burn one yourself.
