budget build, please help!!!
i dont have alot of money or i would swap to a 350 or 400sm so basically im left with trying to build my stock 305 need help on what i need for cam kits, heads, intake manifolds, etc.... please help.. websites would be great.. junkyards in sc would be great... any suggestions would be great!!!
Re: budget build, please help!!!
it has been mentioned many times here before. if you have the money for heads, cam kits and all you can afford a swap. unless you are going to looking in junkyards for all your parts. read every one of the stickies at the top of the tbi page. im not rich. i have a tbi 350 from a 93 buick roadmaster. 140,000 miles. block prep and hone-160.00. valve job on heads-175.00 engine rebuild kit-220.00 350 injectors-matched 111.00 lt1 cam 40.00 couple a extra things not needed. 200.00. that will be about 906.00 bucks. 350 swap done. to me that is a really nice price. i can go even cheaper if needed.

sounds like a really good deal, but im only gettin about 250 a week.. it sucks but well this is where im at... i mean i dont have alot of tools, no hoist, small trolly jack, small stands, i mean really limited tools.. soo i have the exhaust done with no cat and i chopped up the top of the factory airbox.. bigger injectors? headers? bigger factory style cam? bigger vortec style heads? well basically junkyard parts...
just need to know what would work..

Well sorry but heads or cam can NOT be done alone or it will run worse than it did before. In order to do these you need a proper tune, either swap in parts data log and send logs to tbichips.com for a tune or use ebl flash and burn your own chips which the best and most preferred way to go also not cheap. Snd please do as one92rs said and search the stickies above, also scroll down this page and there's probably 2 or 3 threads on the same topic. But anyways first get a set of shorty headers and exhaust first, second go to the tech articles and find the ultimate tbi mods and do those, now your lo3 can breathe that must be done first.

Here's an idea: build up the suspension, rear end and transmission before you get into the engine. This may very well be the best way to go about building a car
