sensor names/performance upgrades
i have an 89 formula firebird 305 tbi automatic. had it since august. over the course of driving it i have replaced a few things. now the engine runs a little rough.
i basically need to know what all the main sensor names are for the tbi set up. i runs a little rough on the start up and some times is hesitant under its own power.
i have changed the oil and filter, and i put ac delco copper plugs in. the plug wires still look fine. i have not yet looked into the cap rotor or coil.
for a sense of insurance i would like to know all the names of the sensors that are related to the tbi set up to get more familiar with how it works. i also want to replace all of the sensors eventually.
performance,
i know that this engine isnt exactly the best for starting grounds on performance but its my daily driver, first car and i start my last year of school this december. i dont want to build anything radical because i would be killed with the gas mileage.
i was thinking about going with this list ---
-exhaust
hooker competition shorty headers(1 5/8th primaries, 3 inch collectors)
hooker 3 inch y pipe
dynomax super turbo cat back(2.5 inch system)
-fuel system
bbk in tank fuel pump 255 lph
and possibly some msd upgrades

Re: sensor names/performance upgrades
Even though there not as nice as a GM manual , I would start with a Chilton manual for about $25.00.It is basically a "must have" item if your serious about learning about your car .
Before you start replacing things that don't need to be replaced go back and finish the tune up you were working on. Replace both the plug wires ,rotor and cap.(plug wires degrade from the inside out.) IMO,those items are some of the very first things that should be replaced.
