Was running great, then died and wouldn't start.
I've got a 89 TA with a supercharged 305 TBI. Was idling my car out of a driveway when it died (didn't sputtering at all). It will turn over but won't start. It has a new msd coil pack, distributor cap and roter. I can hear the fuel pump running and it's getting spark to the distributor.
I might be posting this in the wrong thread, but was thinking it was a fuel issue.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Ignition control module most likely. Same thing happened to me a few years back. Came to a stop sign and the car just cut off and wouldn't restart. Its mounted in the distributor under the rotor.
You can have them tested at just about any local parts store.

I have an MSD Ignition system. does that ignition control module still work with the MSD system?

All the MSD really does is intensify your igntion energy, or bascially give you a stronger spark outout. It really only helps you if your stock ignition is old or wornout. If everything was working fine before you may not see any difference, maybe slightly better throttle response and fuel mileage. But don't expect it to give you much of an increase in horsepower if any at all. It will however find the weak link in the ignition system too.
Good luck and let us know what you find, Chris

It already had an MSD ignition system in the car when it died. What I was wondering was, does the MSD system bypass that module. I don't want to replace something that isn't used anymore. I'm not a mechanic by all means, but do have some basic knowledge. I've never dealt with these MSD systems

No you need to have the control module to supply spark to the coil. The MSD won't bypass anything in the ingition system. It only creates a higher spark output.
