Quick Question

I just have a quick and simple question.

I would post in the power adders section, but its not that high up. I just want to know if anyone has pictures of an aftermarket cold air intake installed on their 305 tbi. I know that it should be pretty simple to install but the thing that keeps bothering me is how it should look after when the stock one is bolted on to the front.

Thanks in advance

(Before someone says "Get a 350!", I can make the 305 put out more power than a stock 350 even with mods)

I am unsure of what you're trying to ask. On a tbi there is just the air cleaner assembly and then the tube that goes to the front driver side. With the open element installed, it looks like this.

Also, unless you are going with nitrous. How do you plan on making a 305 have more ponies than a 350?

Yeah I meant the tube like you have mentioned. But some keep the original and just replace the tube with a filter and then they're are some that I've seen that do it as you have shown. So how much of a difference do you feel with your setup?

And I can beat a 350 with some simple, not too deep mods and not expensive.
454 throttle body (any junkyard)
Intake manifold and cam ( I have a guy that's selling them to me for cheap)
Headers of course (also from him)
And that's just for starters. I can really beat and embarrass a 350 with a couple steps up

You aren't going anywhere fast without a new set of heads. Besides the exhaust, the heads are the worst thing on an l03. A cam will do a little. But nothing to compete with a 350. Nor will the throttle body help because the heads are so restrive.

The open element helped a little. Not much. It just looks better. And I took out the old air filter ducting.

if you dont change the heads from the factory tbi (swirl port) or do some major work on them at the least, you will never out power a 350 ... and a 4.3 with the right mods can out power a stock 350 ... it is all in how much cash you can dump into one (or how many tools you have already and have the know how to use)

Well actually I forgot to mention that when I do the camshaft since I'm gonna be in the engine already, I was gonna port and polish the heads to remove some of that restriction because I agree with you 100% that they suck. But I was just gonna do that and then maybe put different heads later
