Need advice on a "chip"

I have a 95 Sonoma that I'm dropping in a 350 in place of the 4.3. I've built the engine with a rv cam with around .420" lift, and used .015" head gaskets to up the compression and improve the quench area. From the reading I've done, I can run the stock 350 chip for now, but I'm wanting to know of a reputable place to get a chip to unlock the full potential of the mods to the engine. It's a daily driver, I didn't build it to go fast, just my inner-gearhead wouldn't let me leave it stock. Thanks for any help guys.

Re: Need advice on a "chip"

Also the 350 is out of a 93 suburban, so its a non -roller engine or I would of gone with the easy L33 or LT1 cam swap. It'll be paired up to an NV3500 5spd trans with 3.42 gears, so it should make a fun daily driver! The only reason I'm keeping the TBI is the swap with practically be a plug and play deal using the conversion mounts and headers.

Re: Need advice on a "chip"

No one? All searching I've done has about 50% positive 50% negative feedback on different places they've bought their chips from like TBIchips.com. I'm not running anything wild or looking for any huge power gains, so would just a regular "stage 1" kind of chip from tbichips work? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Here's the specs on the cam: .050" Duration-204/214; Cam Lift-.281/.296; Lobe Center-107/117

If you want to do anything that is going to really maximize gain you are going to need to log, and if slow baud rate may take a bit. You should read some of the stickies on tuning. This will help you understand the process and what hardware you may need for your ECM. Anybody that sends you a chip off just spec's of your engine is really going to be hit and miss or do nothing but what a hypertech chip does, which is very little. To do it correctly some logging needs to happen. I would recommend you figure out how to do this, from there you can give these logs to someone who burns chips to burn a chip for you. Obviously finding someone local would be ideal, but since these is old tech. not many do it anymore for $$, many hobbyists. Find your local gearheads and see if any of them dabble.

Re: Need advice on a "chip"

Well by doing tons of reading today, my Sonoma has the dreaded VCM that's OBD1.5. So I'll have to separate the the engine wiring from the rest of the harness and wire it up to a normal ECU to run a V8 manual trans chip. So I have my work cut out for me, I just need to locate a pinout for the VCM...
