I'm looking to do the exhaust with headers. What is this black box? I live in Indiana and don't need any smog stuff. It currently has the stock 2bbl TBI. The AC-DC will also go away if I can figure out how to run the belt

 

Just smog crap. Get rid of it and put a delete pulley in from Amazon. You can get a delete pulley for the A/C also

1. "Smog crap" is FEDERAL, not state law. Living in Indiana makes no difference. You're still required by law to have it.

2. What do you gain from buying a "delete pulley"? Pull the connector off the clutch, the A/C won't run. Problem solved, zero dollars. The "delete pulley" doesn't drag any less than the bearing on the clutch already.

 

Well for one it cleans up and declutters the engine bay
Also makes certain areas easier to work on. Thats why one would buy delete pulleys
