WB Tuning?

Running programmable ECM from Dynamic EFI - Can't get NB O2 to work so I'm going to a WB tune. Can I run Closed Loop in a WB tune? Do I get trims? From AFR table? How's that work in a nut shell - was once told you can't get trims without NB working...? Thanks.

Fundamentally the EBL is still a factory ECU and will only do fuel trims (BLM and INT) using a narrow band sensor. It's also speed density so I highly recommend you get the narrow band working - and if you have headers just go ahead and get the 3 wire heated NB sensor or it will likely drop out of closed loop at idle.

The EBL can make fuel map tuning suggestions based on a wideband input. But it is ONLY used by the WUD program for tuning. Once tuning is finalized, the wideband serves no purpose except for monitoring and data-logging. It can't be used for closed loop lambda control. That is outside the capabilities of the EBL. If that is something you are interested in, it can be done with a stand-alone such as the LINK ECU that I run. We make plug-and-play harnesses adapters to run any of the various LINK ECU's and they can run essentially the same way the EBL runs with all the factory equipment but they have modern capabilities including closed loop lambda with a wideband - either with or without dithering for exciting a converter. The closed loop lambda using a CANBUS digital wideband controller was one of the reasons I elected to develop a plug and play harness adapter for the LINK. That was THE feature that I wanted the most. Analog wideband controllers suck and their output's are prone to grounding problems causing significant differences between the wideband controller readout, and it's analog output to the ECU.

Re: WB Tuning?

Most wide bands have a narrow band simulator wire you can run to the ecm. Could try that but not sure how well it works as said above

but the narrow band should work unless you got other issues

Re: WB Tuning?

Thanks for replies - I see I have options. I just ordered a new AC Delco NB and will be back at trying to get the reporting working. Based on your comments it appears the best thing to do. Will post progress.
