"good" WinALDL logs for a baseline?
"good" WinALDL logs for a baseline?
I'm still learning about my TBI and I'm using WinALDL to see what is happening with the electronics. Problem is, I don't know what "good" readings are for some of the sensors and such. I've found information on what values are expected for things like the MAP and TPS but other things are still a mystery.
My 5.7L engine, harness, and ECM are from an '89 Suburban. If anyone has (or can get) WinALDL logs (I prefer all data but I'll take what I can get) from a similar, properly functioning engine, it would help me out in my quest for knowledge. Also, any "pointers" to information that will help me understand the system would be greatly appreciated. I did try the search which helped me understand some things. But, there is SO much to wade through where people are just talking about some value or another from a given sensor without any context. The fog is beginning to clear but I have a way to go yet...
I've also included a WinALDL log from my truck. It appears to be running fine now with no error codes. If no one posts additional logs then, at least people who search in the future will have a log from an engine that runs, even if I (they) can't be sure everything is right. I started logging just before cranking and let it idle until it warmed up and the idle went down (closed loop). Then I brought it up to about 2k and held for a short time, then up to around 3k for a few seconds, then back to idle. After that, a few short blips on the throttle to about 3k before shutting it down. I figured that would give a few different things to look at. There are no tags on my truck so it I can't run around the neighborhood too much. Just for the record, right now I don't have a VSS (not moving anyway) or neutral safety switch. Don't know if that will matter considering it is setting in my backyard but, thought I would mention it just in case. Also, this is a log of the first I made after fixing some major surging problems that were due to low fuel pressure. I wdon’t know if the ECM is going to "remember" those problems, causing it to affect the numbers in this log. Again, just trying for full disclosure in case it is relevant (since I don't yet know exactly what is relevant).
BTW, for those new to WinALDL, these raw text files can be tough to read. However, they are "tab-delimited" so opening them in a spreadsheet (like Excel) will get it all lined up nicely in properly labeled columns. Much easier to read...
