3.08 gears???

I have an 88 firebird 305tbi. I believe it has 273 gears. My question is, would 50 bucks for a 308 rearend (drum to drum) be worth it. Would i notice and gains in acceleration?? My car has a few mods (flowmaster, open element, accel coil) is it worth the money and a few hours for swap time. Any ideas??

Take your $50 and get a 3.42 or 3.73 rearend from a v6. Then put in a $100 SLP take off posi unit.

Yeah, but the friend is offering this once. Where do i find the v6 gears. He is offering the whole rearend, and a larger z28 sway bar for the 50 bucks. I dont think 50 bucks can get a whole rearend from a junk yard. Plus if i just buy the gears i have to pay to get them installed, i dont fool around with rearends anymore, went through two in my truck trying to do a home install.

Pablo got a whole rearend drum to drum from a v6 in a yard for $50. But if all you can get in your area is your friends then it doesn't hurt to do it.
