You can disconnect the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), if you don't want to spring for a new chip. Some aftermarket chips don't eliminate the governor, anyways.
If you can get your hands on a wiring diagram, the VSS wire will be shown. I think it is accesible near the ECM on the pass. side under the dash.
Cutting this VSS wire, and adding a switch will eliminate the VSS when the switch is open. When the switch is open, the engine will throw a code, but performance will not be affected. To remove the Service Engine Soon light, just close the switch to reactivate the VSS.
I believe there is a tech article on this in the archives. Check it out.

I don't remember for sure, but its in a tech article somewhere. There is a wire you can cut and put a switch in when you need to exceed the built in limit, but you shouldn't just cut it because you'll get a SES light the whole time.

There is a setting in the chip that cuts fuel at 108 MPH, due to the rating on tires, and the motor is out of air at 4500RPM anyways, i disabled that on mine with a custom eprom(92 305 TBI Auto), and it got up to like 115 before not moving anymore(had the computer hooked up to read the speed), im pretty sure that you can for price of a chip(cheap), and shipping, i could just make you a copy of mine, and mail it out to you(the chip that connects on the ECM), so you dont have to do all that stupid wiring, and no service engine soon light either when you flip the switch, e-mail is klayburn@woh.rr.com, get in touch with me...
