small block question

this is proberbly a stupid question, but i need to clear it up. in catalogs there are parts for small block chevys and some for pontiac engines, i have a formula firebird that i just bought, and i would think that anything that could go on a small block chevy engine could proberbly go on my pontiac engine right?

forgive me for this dumb question, im pretty sure i know the answer. but i just want to be 100% sure before i start goin crazy on this car.

only a dumb question if never asked. since 1982, the pontiac f-body used small block chevy engines. now called corporate engines. GM dropped the pontiac motors to save money.
