Can i use self-aligning roller rocker arms with guideplates?

I'm installing a set of new AFR cylinder heads with the guide plates already installed. I also have a set of 1.52 Comp Cams self-aligning roller rocker arms that I am going to change over from my original stock heads. Will this work or will it cause problems? Is there such a thing as over alignment over the valve tip? I would like to leave the guideplates in because that is how they came from AFR. BTW, I will have hardened pushrods. Thanks for your help.

This issue has been discussed before. Some say it's fine and that they've run self-aligning rockers with guideplates, while others have said it was a cause of major valvetrain troubles.
I can only tell you that all the manufactureres I've spoken to reccommend choosing one or the other, but to never use both, as it may cause a slight misalignment capable of bending a pushrod at higher rpms.
In my opinion, since you have the rockers, I'd remove the guide plates and run those rockers.
My 2 cents.

Yep, the short answer is no.....

But it is possible to run both in some cases. Definately not recommended though as it just creates a possible bind situation.

I would think as long as you spin the engine over with the valve covers off and check VERY closely that ALL the pushrods are not touching or even coming close to the guide plates during their full range of travel then you should be ok, but if it was my engine I would keep the rockers and take off the guide plates.
