AutoCenter 383/325 Any Experiences?
I have a T5 equiped 305 TPI IROC (user name...) and believe my motor is suffering from some mechanical problem that will soon require opening up the block to fix. Well, I've convinced my loving wife that the motor needs to be replaced
I am looking to buy a crate motor to avoid the hassles of rebuilding – specifically the 383/325 from Mail Order Autocenter. I know I'll need new injectors, manifold base plate - the new Vortec one from Scoggin and many other items. I'll probably upgrade the runners and throttle body as well. I also know the T5 probably won't live long behind it but that will help satisfy my desire for a T56.
What I want to know is if anyone has put this motor in a TPI car and if so what your experience was. I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations.
Thanks.

I can't believe none of you guys have tried this one. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with AutoCenter crate motors?
How about Scoggin-Dickey's TPI Vortec motors?
I really need some support here. Lots of money to spend on a "try out".

Do you have to smog? I dont' think the heads have provisions for egr on those prebuilt engines? If i had lots of money to spend then i would have my engine built professionally. Like go with AFR heads which probably are the best flowing around. Go with ZZ-9 cam. Should look at TPIS booklet. I got one and they got numbers on building a high horsepower engine. I'd also go with large tube runners and TPIS bigmouth manifold and then 1 3/4 inch SLP headers. Personally i wouldn't go with a 383 it's really more complicated. Me i would slap a nice big supercharger on there. Leave you grinnin all day rustlin' up some rustangs. Later.
