I went to get my GTA smogged today and they told me they couldn't do a "regular" smog they had to do an "enhanced" smog because the car was from Ventura, CA.(Im in San Francisco) which is like $100, Stupid CA emissions. Does anybody know what is different in the enhanced smog? Any tips? I already did a tune-up including 02 sensor.

The main difference between the "regular" and "enhanced" emissions tests is that they run the car on rollers (kinda like a chassis dyno) during the enhanced tests. Of course, the pass/fail criteria is also different because of the added load on the engine due to the rollers.Originally posted by 86 Trans AM

Unless you've done crazy mods, you shouldn't have a problem passing the enhanced test.
Was the car last registered in Ventura/LA County? I ask this because if the car was last registered in SF County, you shouldn't be subjected to the enhanced test.
Anyway, pass the enhanced test this one time and you can go back to having the "regular" tests done every other year. Unless SF County goes on the "enhanced" list in the future.

I believe the enhanced test is when they put the car on a dyno and smog at 15 and 25 mph.
Thanks guys.. I just passed the smog test, yeah they put the car on the dyno and ran it at 15 and 25 MPH
