Temperature gauge connector

in trying to get my fans to come on ,i went ahead and changed the plugs, now the gauge is from the sensor in the driver side head, didn't change it,took the connector off and cleaned,it doesnot fit snug, seems loose,is this why my gauge quit after i changed the plugs, chaged CTS front intake, and the one btween rear plugs passenger side, with no gauge can't determine if fans are fixed, other than i turn on AC and both run,did i change the wrong pieces??is it in the relay?? and need HELP with gauge, don't want to chage parts again since it worked fine before the work??
