Vortec intake gasket question.

The part # I referred to was the instructions part #. Sorry. Realized that about 5 minutes after I posted and could edit it out of the subject. I have the right part number gasket. 12529094.

My Performer RPM intake doesn't have water openings for the heads back by the distributor like all other intakes. Do I need to do anything special with this intake? Also, with this plastic odd *** looking Vortec gasket, do I need to use silicone sealer around the water jackets like always or will these seal? Thanks.

With the vortec gaskets you should use a little sealant around the water ports on both ends of them.
You will also need to run s water by pass from the manifold to the water pump. Edelbrock says they have a bypass kit that is provided with thier manifolds. I used hardware store fittings and a pice of copper tubing on mine, it seems to be working fine.

Why do I need to run a bypass? Where do I run it to? I've been driving it for a couple of days now with no probs. That motor is sweet. Them Vortecs kick a5$. I called the dealer and asked a mechanic and he told me not to use any sealant so I didn't. I wanted to real bad though, but I risked it. No leaks anywhere. Those gaskets looked pretty cheesy to me, but I guess they work.
I bought the Edelbrock Vortec intake and I didn't get any bypass kit.
Thanks.

Hey bhaas
My engine is a '96 so I needed the bypass I guess yours doesn't.
My intake is #2116 for carb. I put an adapter for tbi. It works great. Vortec heads are kick***.
