Power steering squelching... does it need bleeding?
Power steering squelching... does it need bleeding?
Just put my Z28 back on the road and there was a "low rumble" kind of sound when I turned the wheel. I checked the fluid and it was somewhat low so I topped it up. Well, the low rumble is fixed but now it makes an occasional "squelch" like when you've turned the wheel as far as it can go and it makes that aweful noise. Does this sound like air in the system? How would I go about bleeding the power steering system?

I believe that is normal it is just the belt slipping. When you turn the wheel all the way it takes to much power than the pump can supply and the belt slips. Its not really a good idea to be turning the wheel that far anyway.
eather the belt is loose or need to be replaced, there should be about 1" play in it up and down, if it only does it at full lock then like said that is normal, but you should not hold the wheel at full lock
Just to clarify it makes the sound without turning it fully to one side... it just sounds like when you've turned it too far. The belt wasn't squealing before but it's probably due for a new one. Thanks.
