Door alignment questions

So, here's the deal as far as I can tell:

GM spot welds all the inner plates that the bolts attach to, they cannot be moved. This goes for the striker as well, its location is permanent unless you want to do some drilling. The door is welded to the hinges, so forget adjusting that. Basically, it seems like theres no adjustments at all. Is that right? Sure looks that way.

My problem is, the door is dragging the striker and gfx. The bushings do not appear to be worn, as I cannot see any play in there whatsoever. I might just throw new bushings in there in hopes it will raise the door up, both front and rear. Otherwise... anyone tried drilling the spot welds before to move the door up? I need like 1/8". Anyone know or think new bushings are gonna do squat to raise the door? I have to do something here, passengers not being able to get out of the car is getting annoying.

Thanks.

i had a similar problem in my whire car and replacing the pin and bushing fixed it. here's a tip you never see instead of tryingto use a floor jack under the door tie a rope or something from a rafter or whatever's handy and hang the door in a loop in the rope. this will allow you to move the door with no problems. i used one of my nylon ratchet straps and engine hoist.

Yea, I wish thats what it was. The fender I have off the car and theres no play in the bushings, top or bottom. Not really surprised about that either, last time I checked there didnt appear to be any either... with the fender off the car it was easy to verify the bushings are fine. The car was in an accident, and its never been right since then. I figured I'd just adjust the door... and what do you know GM has no provisions to do so.

Looks like I am going to have to violate some rules to move the door up.
