NEED A oil dip stick PART # FOR A 400 CHEVY SMALL BLOCK!! QUICK
hey whats up all i bought a MR G oil dip stick and it was to big around.. the dip stick is on the drivers side.. so i took an old 350 dip stick and it doesnt work quite right.. i know the 400 needs a shorter one but i cant find one anywhere for what i need!! so if someone could help me quick that wouldbe great thanks

Just make the stick you have shorter....change the oil...add the necessary amount of oil so you know it's full, put the stick in, pull it out and mark the full mark...problem solved

The older style block has a smaller hole....at least that is true on my 327....the 350 tube wouldnt work....and the stick was to long.I got one off another sbc at the junkyard.......

The pre-65 blocks were different. AFAIK all 65 up blocks with LH dipstick use the same part. You just have to make sure the tube and dipstick are a set; as a set, they varied somewhat over the years.

Dont they have a junkyard there in Michigan? If you go there and browse the v-8's, I'm for sure you will find what you need, Most likely for under $5.00. And you would be surprised what a wire wheel can do to one of those greasy old things....I say Back away from the computer....and get to the JY !!!....
