Pop sound from under car (not suspension)

The past few days, I've noticed that sometimes while going very slow (5-15mph) or when accelerating slowly from a complete stop, my car makes a funny kind of "pop" sound, sort of like a back fire, but I don't know if it's that or not. I probably have a hole/leak in the cat. The sound seems to come from the passenger side close to the door hinge (only up under the car). Any help would be appreciated. Oh yea, it kind of hesitates some when it "pops" also.

i think it's a small back fire, and the cat is stock. hell the whole car is stock, other than i put a c.a.i. on it the other and a new trans. mount today.

What should/can I do to fix this? New cat or just whole new exhaust system completely? Thanx

its probably just a plugged cat...if you've been bitten by the speed bug go for headers/etc if not, then check the rest of the exhaust system, if it's all in good shape, why replace it? Just replace the cat. If you se other developing/already developed problems, fix them to
