LT1 will it work?

Heres the info on this possibility

1994 lt1 engine, aluminum heads, MAF, computer, wring harness, allaccs on engine, A/c Delete, VATS overide, engine is complete and also included is the 4l60E trans to go with it, both have about 40,000 on them, I am in north VA by the way

Ok so will all this work in my 89? And will that transmission work with my 5 speed and what else will I need. I dont want to get the engine and then have to spend another 2k on other crap

The PCM controls the transmission as well, and will expect to see loads from the valve body solenoids. If you use the 4L60-E and forget your 5-speed, it should work just fine.

Reprogramming is quite a bit different, since the ROM is an EEPROM that needs to be flashed with new programming for any changes. You may do just fine with the stock programming unless you make some significant changes.

You should also get the expansion tank and radiator/fans if possible, since the cooling system will need them. Also grab the manifolds, cats, and O² sensors if you can. You'll at least need two heated O² sensors, and the LT1 exhaust mainfolds flow much better than the L98 iron.

Well there is no way Im willing to switch to an automatic!! I guess It isnt meant to be. I just hate autos. I think I will just start saving and buy a crate engine or something.

If you change your mind about spending an extra 2 grand, go for a 6-speed

Don't matter what motor you get, your tranny won't last. Might as well get this LT1 and Tranny, install everything, save up for a T56, sell the Auto and you are good to go.

Well it turns out the guy wanted more than I could afford anywhoo so I will just pray for a winning lottery ticket or a really rich woman to sweep me off my feet. What is the difference between my tranny and the T56 or any other tranny??? Remember I only want a manual..

The T5's in our cars are rated at 280 to maybe 320ft/lbs of torque.
Launching hard with an LT1 will probably tear the T5 apart.
I plan on taking it easy with my car till I can afford a T56 to slap into the T5's place.

I've been without my car so long that I don't want to kill my tranny and have the car sitting again while I gather up funds for more parts.
My car was down for 8 months, then ran for 6 weeks then the rod bearings went as well as the piston rings.
I am now doing my LT1 swap and I should be done in a month or so, depending on cash flow.

Well,
I got the motor and harness with all accessories minus the alternator for $1,000. Has 48K miles on it.
Used Alternator cost me $69 shipped for the 140 amp one.
Custom programming to elimate VATS and Tuning for my Hot Cam, headers, CAI, EGR Delete, and anything else I can think of is $50.00.
Plug Wires, about $50, Oil + Filter $30 for synthetic, header gaskets, $20-50.
So, for about $1300 I can have the LT1 in my car.

All the work done below is due to the LT4 Cam install,
LT4 Hot Cam and Springs costed me my SLP Dual Cold Air intake, traded with another member from here.

Head Gaskets are costing my $24 each, head work is $25 to have the spring seats enlargened for the LT4 Springs. Might need to change the valve seals at the same time, maybe $10 or so.

LT4 Knock Module, about $30.

There could be some other stuff that I may encounter in the next few weeks, but when I update my website, I will have a price breakdown of all the parts that I needed for my swap, so you can use that as a guide.

I am hoping my LT1 setup with my LT4 Hot Cam and other mods will be high 12's.
My brother with the same mods without the LT4 Hot cam ran a 13.4 in his 96 Trans Am.

My car weighs in at 3520lbs with 1/4 tank and me(140lbs) in it.
I ran a best of 14.77 @ 93mph with my 305 before it died. I ran that time with a non-functioning chip in the car.
This is my old setup if you haven't seen it,

I'll have a similiar intake setup on my LT1, hopefully. I hated to part with it, it was the coolest part of the engine bay, everyone would stare at it and ask about it.
I just need to get some money and finish up my car.
I am selling my Dashboard if you want to slap it in your car.

Well, you are getting everything that is part of the dash.
I don't know what to ask for it so I put it in the classifieds for $400 + shipping. I'd rather have someone pick it up since it is rather large.
I don't know if I am charging too much or too little.
Oh, you also get the radio pod and probably the a/c vent controls.
Plus all of the wiring that is behind the dash that is associated with the dash controls.

Hey Zepher... do you have to relocate the battery and purge canister with that air intake set up??? if so... where do each go? i've seen so many people with air set ups taking air from where the battery should be.. but i was wondering where the battery was moved to.

Yes, you have to relocate the battery with that setup.
Battery is in the Spare Tire Well and the Purge Canister, well, there is no purge on my car.

Naw, haven't gotten anyone to pose with it yet, still needs to be cleaned up a bit.

I am trying to get a 95 Camaro Z28 Dash to replace mine.
