ok i cant decide what to do...here in a month im getting some bills and its time to mod the sports coupe...for about 1300$ and misc costs i can get vortec heads, edelbrock carb vortec intake, cam (not sure what yet), fuel pressure reg, distributer, and edelbrock carb or i can sped 850$ and get toreur 305 heads, lt1 cam, and a edelbrock TBI intake...although it will be more to go carb seems to me like thats a much better combo and easier to tune...throw in the 300$ for the stuff to burn chips and its about the same price. i kinda want to go with vortec heads because i do plan on a 350 someday and it would be easier to switch over. what do you all think? i have everything for the TBI already...its in the car and working good...many new parts.....carb would be a drastic change but may be better in the long run i dont know.

 

The Vortec heads might not be that friendly on a 305. For about your checkbook, you can get an engine stand, 350 short block, and have cash left over to start building that 350 right now. For a few hundred more, you can get a brand new 350 crate engine. In other words, if you are planning to go to a 350, cut your losses now and get started.

 

Scoggin Dickey offers a 249 hp 350 long block for under $1300 plus shipping which they state is approimately $75 to $155...

 

i dont want to swap in a 350 yet the 305 still runs good all this will go on a 350 someday but right now i dont have the time to do that bewteen school and work and everything. vortecs will work the 305 as long as i dont go over a .450 lift on the cam
