ticking? not lifters correct?

i have a ticking sound thats under the hood when i bring the rpms up, doesnt tick at idle or low rpms lifters are new with 1200 miles on them, lifters would tick all the time if improperly adjusted right? would a header collector sound like that?

I'd check for an exhaust leak around the y-pipe area.

They're probably right about the exhaust leak, but if that's not it check the injectors, they can tick pretty loudly sometimes.

Did this noise start shortly after the cam installation? A lot of dual-pattern cam profiles can induce valve train noise. I've had this happen more than once on roller cams with heavy ramps. The noise seems to be more prevalent at idle and low RPMs, and fades away at about 1,400-1,700 RPM.

yeah either exhaust leak and/or what vader said. But I would check the rocker arms also, we were tuning my friends t/a and a couple of his rocker arms werent tightened right and was making a clicking noise.

well i adjusted all rockers, your right about the increased valve train noise, but at idle with the valve covers on you dont hear a tick, i do hear some exhaust noise/leaks at idle, so maybe thats it as i only here ticking at medium to high rpms

Hmm, mine does the same exact thing. I put an LPE 219 cam almost 2 months ago and it does have an agressive ramp, although it's a single pattern cam. I adjusted the valves with the motor running and have replaced the header and collector gaskets. I put in Comp Cams roller lifters, pushrods, and springs when I changed cams. The springs were properly shimmed and it couldn't be the lifters cuz they're brand new. After 1500 rpms the ticking goes away.

So Vader, are you saying this is normal??
