I feel so pissed off right now!!

85 Z with 350 carb setup. Had old 305 TPI. Got car back from the shop yesterday. Today I checked my oil. Guess what barely any oil was on the dip stick. How can I tell if there no oil or if the dip stick is to short? Man I'm pissed off. Also very strong gas smell comeing from car. Don't know if its the black can or what. I see no leaks what so ever. Seems when I put my hand over carb little mist from it. Is this normal? About the oil I drove this car for almost 30 miles to home. I would think that if there wasn't any or a little oil in the eng. Something bad would happen. No heat problems or nothing. Just a rough idel. HELP ME PLEASE!

as long as there was some oil on the dipstick i am sure u will be ok, just add some oil or if the oil looked dirty change it. add around five quarts depending on oil filter size, and always check the oil when the motor has been turned off for at least 15 minutes to let the oil drip back down into the pan.

as for the gas smell i am not to sure how carbs work, all i can say is to check all ur fuel lines, gas tank, gas filter, gas cap...

I'm going to check oil with a coat hanger first. Then add some oil if it is needed. I'll also call that guys shop and ask him what the F%^k is going on. I have check all fuel lines, tank, pump, and the filter in the can. I saw nothing out of the ordinary. I hope some one knows out there.

Yeah, if there was some oil on the dipstick, you shouldn't have messed anything up. I'd still be pissed off at them for not filling the oil up though.
