lt1 owners or any that know about lt1's please help me. (especially techs)

This isn't thirdgen related but is tech. I need to know if any of you have replaced the optispark on a 92-94 lt1. I ordered an optispark for my 94 and when it arrived I found out that it was for 95-97 lt1's. This one is vented. The shaft is also different. I would have to change the cam and timing cover to make it work. Anyway, I need to know if the GM part # 10457702 comes with a cap and rotor set already installed.

Since the opti that I bought is the wrong style I called Advance Auto. They told me that they could have one the next day. I told them to go ahead and order it. Well, I went to pick it up and it didn't come with the cap and rotor kit. He told me that that would take another day to get. So the next day I went to pick it up and now there is this plastic piece that fits between the opti and the cap doesn't fit. Different style or something.

I really need to get my car running. It has been down for 2 weeks because noone can get me the right parts. I really just want to buy the whole thing already put together just like the vented one that I bought in the first place. I keep emailing the guy that I got it from and he won't respond so if anyone needs a vented 95-97 optispark let me know. It's brand new. I'll sell for cheap. Please help!

I coulda swore that the TSB concerning the non-vented Optispark said to replace it with a vented Optispark from 95-97........how could they be different?

The shaft is different. The 92-94's have a pin that is removable. The newer ones have a shaft that is made on it and is bigger. the cam would have to have a bigger hole in it and a longer dowel pin. Also the timing cover is different. It also requires a vacuum hose harness. I don't want to change all these things right now. I just want a replacement so I can drive my car again. Most people that do a rebuild on the lt1's do upgrade to the vented style but they change cams and timing cover.

He's got the style you need for around $270 + shipping. Brand new GM units with cap and rotor.
