383 stroker??
383 stroker??
I am dumpin the lo3 tbi, now hopefully for some real power. My idea is to take a 350 4bolt main, bore it at least .030 over, stroke it to a 383, huge cam (but not too big), TPI for fuel supply, roller rockers, port and polish heads, headers, tru dual exhaust, and maybe a little NOS (ok, probibly a lot, i AM still a kid). Can anyone give any sort of specs on what i will needs to do for just in case things or if it will even work. Or any type of specs on the 305, 350 and 383 engine itself. Thank You. :hail:
Its a lot harder then it sounds. The kit costs around 750$, then the machine work to clearance the block will run you another 750$ or so. I am also a kid with a blown engine looking at my alternatives, and I decided that there is no way in hell I can afford the 1500$ extra for those 33 cubes. I will go the old fashioned way and build me a nice bored 350 for MUCH cheaper, and I suggest you do the same thing.
Obviously if you're loaded... do whatever the hell you want to

I have a 350 4bolt sitting in my basement. My plans were to turn it into a 383 but i think i'll just convert my 2 bolt. What to do with an extra engine

Most of the newer 383 kits are already clearanced. I just took my 383 apart and the block wasn't clearanced at all. I had 5.7 pink rods, TRW forged pistons, and a cut down 400 crank. You may have to make some oil pan mods to your stock pan or get an aftermarket pan.
My new setup will probably be eagle rods, which are stroker clearanced, even the h-beams, scat crank, and JE pistons.
I don't remember the machine shop saying they had to clearance anything. Depending on the size of the rod, maybe you may need to clearance for the rod bolts.
I also ran a stock base circle cam with no problems.
