Griffin radiator on dual fan setup experience

I installed my Griffin 31x19 radiator and B&M 24000 GVW tranny cooler tonight. It took me about 7.5 hours, which includes the time to remove all the stock oil cooler and heater lines. Like most people have said, the top radiator/fan mount is fairly useless. Mine is mounted crooked right now until my chassis builder friend fabs me a new bracket. Here's what I did to get it to where the car was drivable.

- Removed the "peak" in the lower rubber mounts that used to separate the radiator from the A/C condensor. This is to be able the hold the radiator that's 1/2" thicker than stock.

- Broke my passenger's side fan off. The mounts are all plastic, and are now brittle, so I don't have a fan there now.

- Used spacers on the remaining fan to move the fan about 1/2" away from the radiator. The only contact point I had with the fans was on the "side tank" where the fins connect to.

- Disconnected and removed my heater and oil cooler lines since there's no return connection on the radiator.

- Cut two holes and 3 slots into the stock upper mount to at least get it close to the radiator. The first hole on the driver's side lines up, but since the back of the mount get narrower on the passenger's side, those holes don't line up. I used some "muffler tape" to bolt that side up for now.

- Cut around 1/8" off the top rails on the radiator. They stick up way too high to get the stock upper mount to line up any bolt holes.

The radiator cap clears the hood by at least 3/4", but since the radiator is higher than stock, and my upper mount is higher, my airbox now contacts the hood. I can still close the hood, but it's really tight in there.

If you're going to be doing this procedure, try pushing your stock radiator back around 3/4" and then have a bracket fabbed for that before removing all your stock stuff. It'd be a lot easier.

I'd have pictures for you, but they're in the camera, and my gf is too busy to get them onto the computer. I also have 2 large gouges in my hands and a huge welt on my elbow to show for this.
