Does timing have an effect on emissions??
I am going in for emissions tomorrow and I know it's going to be close. I was wondering if the timing would have any effect on the outcome. If so, what should I set it to? Any other tricks for emissions? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it does. And if you think you'll be close, I would set it back to factory specs if it isn't just for the test.

I was told that the temp of the engine will have an effect on emissions, and the timing can have an effect on the temp. I know that this isnt quite the answer you were looking for but this is all I have to offer.

I can't believe I passed, considering I have an aftermarket cam, no EGR, no charcoal canister, no AIR tube crap, and a cat that is literally coming apart inside. I set the timing back to 6 degrees BTDC by the way. Thanks.
