Vapor Canister

I have been having a fuel smell when i drive with the windows down. I think that it is the vapor Canister. I have disconected the fuel tank vent line and ran the car there is no suction. Could this be my problem? what else can i do?

it's common for the canister to become saturated with fuel and give you a smell or gas

If your car is an '87 or older, there should be a filter pad mounted to the bottom side of the canister. A plugged filter can cause poor purging of the canister and saturation, and they are commonly overlooked as a general maintenance item.

If your car is newer and has no such filter, there may be no saving the EVAP cansiter. Make sure the purge solenoid is working and the vacuum lines are routed correctly and in good order.

Where do you get the filter? Is there an AC-D. replacement? Part number (the local autozone seems to be having trouble finding one)?

look it up under canister filter on their website.

You need to know the exact original one, though...
