How hard would it be to make custom fuel injection?
My friend and I are both considering this, for his 65 mustang, and for my 83 bird. How hard would it be to make your own EFI from lets say a tunnel ram intake, some sort of upper plenum which bolts onto it, and some sory of throttle body? Does anyone make a kit for doing something like this? Anyone have any good links to sites with info on this?

"Hard" would depend on how well you can fab and how accurate you can fab.
Ford aftermarket stuff is cheap, even stock Ford EFI stuff is cheap. Why not just convert?

Well, we were going to convert his 65 mustang to EFI, but the firing order is different, and we are not sure if that would work with a 65 289 block. Plus it would just kinda be cool to make your own fuel injection. I wouldnt mind doing this on my car, too. What all would we need? I saw this piece once that bolts onto a carb intake, like an single plane open bore, then bends 90 degrees and allows you to bolt a ford throttle body to it. Does anyone know who makes this piece? Also, would it be possible to make the ECM from any other car work?

Why not try starting with a computer and harness from either a speed density tpi (allows for more freedom with the Throttle body position and type) or a tbi setup?

it is a manifold conversion kit...i dont know if it works for ford
you tale a carb manifold and drill in injectir bungs and fuel rails, and then you can atach a throttle body to that pipe.
i think its great because you combine the best of carb manifolds with EFI
hehe i did a post about a while back:
