I've got an 85 with the original distributer that has the coil in the cap. I'm swapping to an 87 harness, and I'm also installing a newer distributer with the divorced coil. Obviously the new computer harness will plug right into the distributer, but the other harness that's still in the car (the one that comes through the bulkhead on the driver's side) isn't set up for the new distributer. I believe I've seen an adapter kit designed for putting a divorced coil distributer in place of the old style. Anybody know where I can get it?

Or... does anybody know what wires I've got to change on the stock 85 harness? I've got the other harness from that 87, but I can't find corresponding wire colors on my 85 harness. Thanks.

 

painless wiring has one i know for a fact cause I bought one when I got a new harness

 

Jim, I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do. Are you having problems with the 4 ecm wires or the power wires to the coil? I just swapped my harness over from coil in cap to divorced so I should be able to help.
