my rods are blue!
Picked up my rod and piston assemblies last night from the machine shop. Today I looked at them and it is obvious that they heated the small end of the rods to help press the piston pins in. Several of them are blue. Is this going to be a problem? Are they weakened? Has anyone else ever seen this and used them with no problem? Monday I will go back and ask them, but I would like some other knowledge.

Well I don't think they would screw up my rods, I just never got back a set before that looked like they had been heated. I could buy a new set from competition products for $220 if worse came to worse, so I really don't think I lost any sleep over it. Not that I would want to spend anymore money! Come to think of it I did get up at 11:30 after going to bed at 4:30 but I didn't want to miss the McGloklin group(don't know if I spelled that correctly) on PBS.

Heating them up until they turn blue causes less damage then trying to press a wrist pin into a cold rod.
It's normal. Don't worry about it.
