Whine..........

Ive noticed a whine lately, only when im heavy on the throttle. I was leaving a car show today and everyone was nailing it, I took off and the whine was rather loud.

You can kind of hear the whine in this wav of me reving, anyone know what it could be?

Thanks

Whine

I have been noticing the same problem on my car lately. Its like this kinda high pitched thing that goes along with the throttle. I think that mine has something to do with the belt , cause it started right after those bastards at jiffy lube put it back on.

Im no car expert dont listen to me, just wondering if anyone knew the awnser to this?

I bet thats just the whistle of the air rushing through the intake ducts and into the TB when you open up the throttle. My dad used to have a '96 grand cherokee with the 5.2L V8 and the thing sounded like it had a turbo under the hood when you winged it, but it was from that big motor sucking all that air through that straw of an intake hose. You can see that that whistle noise in the clip isn't directly varying with the motor rpms (its kind of "delayed" when you rev it up), so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

That just sounds like air. If you get a real high pitched whine or one that changes with rpms, be concerned.

I noticed this sound in your other sound clips/videos. I have also heard it on other peoples but I think thats OK.

How about making us some real good videos and sound clips so we can kinda see how it sounds in person.

I wish I could.

My Mic sucks. My digital camera takes good sound, but records it way too low. My sis's camcorder is good, when I run the video through my TV card, it gets all crappy

Thanks for the help guys

well just to be safe, check your power steering fluid. A pump with low fluid will make an insanly loud and annoying whine. of course if it is low....then you got to figure out WHY its low...

I have the same thing on my car at low partial throttle. It sounds like a electronic servo struggling to move, like on a R/C car.

it could be the bearings in ur alternator. becuz on my friends old 89 trans am he had. that alternator made that sound and when he would get on it it would get louder withthe rpm. so check ur alternator to see ifthe sound is coming from there.

if the bearings on the alt are exposed you can try spraying a little oil or silicone grease into there....

if u do spray any lubricant just make sure u do not get any one the pulley or u will lose power to the alternator becuz it will slip.
