compression lost please help

I recently did some work with my carb, and now when I first start the car everything is fine except for the high idle around 1100. But after driving and it gets warmed up I start to lose compression. The idle starts to jump around a bit and my compression drops almost into the red. What could it be?

¿Compression? ¿in the red? ¿¿¿¿WTF????

A properly working carb should produce a slightly high idle for the first couple of minutes after a cold start. That is correct operation.

i tihnk you need to reevaluate what is happening and tell us how your compression is dropping into the red and what you're using to measure it with.

I apologize. I fell like an a$$ now. What I meant to say is I'm losing oil pressure. Sorry for the confusion. But yeah after the car warms up and is driven for a short while the idle becomes sort of eratic and the oil pressure starts to drop almost into the red. But when it first starts the oil pressure is sixty and the idle is smooth. High but smooth. Any suggestions?

OK, we all slip up once in a while...

Replace the gauge sending unit first, they often go bad. Or, if you want to spend 3 times as much money and do twice as much work, you could hook up a known accurate mechanical gauge, and then replace the sending unit anyway.

Rough idle with a carb especially when hot is usually caused by a vacuum leak.

The 2 things aren't related.
