It is done with varring grades of sand paper till ya end up with err 1000-2000 grit. Basically you are doing the same steps as you would to polish aluminum, except you dont break out the polishing compound.

I thought it was kinda sanded in one direction, too, so that it gives the appearance of "grain" in the metal, but I could be wrong.
