will the spindle rust?
will the spindle rust?
I'm replacing my front control arm bushings, and have decided to clean\paint everything.. And I'm putting all my parts in the dishwasher to clean them (thanks Ede!!), but im worried about putting the spindle in there because i don't want that part that sticks out (shaft??) that the rotor etc go on to rust (sorry i don't know the name of that piece
).. should i just clean it with a brush and soapy water, or will this be fine in the dishwasher??
Thanks..

The dishwasher is really no different than an industrial aqueous part washer. A little rust preventive coating immediately after the wash cycle is complete should minimize any rusting. If you really want to cheat, put a little soluble oil in the "rinse aid" compartment of the dishwasher to distribute the oil in the rinse cycle. Just make sure it gets one more rinse cycle before you put the fine stemware back in there.
Any consequntial rusting can be stopped with a rust preventive and light wipe with a ScotchBrite right after removing the parts.
