Well, I went out and ripped the heater box out. Only had 2 bolts inside the car to remove. Well, I've also had an exhaust leak for G0D knows how long. I figured it was a blown gasket. Well, somehow the back bolt is gone and the one next to it was real lose.
Here's a pic, any idea where I have an oil leak from. Think it's the valve covers, or hopefully not the rear seal.

Look at all that room.
Now I got to figure what to do with all those wires.
OH geesh, I also have some anti freeze back behind the engine, looks to be on the bell housing (?). Why is this? I have to put some water in the over flow bottle once in a while.

forgot the 2nd pic.

the water on the bellhousing could be from the intake leaking in the rear. when u installed the motor did u run the motor till it was nice and warm then retorqe the bolts. and i also put just a lil dab of silicon on the gasket around the water jacket holes to prevent leaks.
I think it might be the heater hose lines leaking. I didn't install the engine since I don't have an engine lift.

yes it could be the heater lines but they r a lil to the left. replace or check them and if it still does it then try retorqing the intake when its nice and hot.

Mine was leaking back there too, it turned out that the hose clamps on the heater hoses were lose. But those are gone now
If I wasnt leaving for 2 weeks (military duty) I would try and take some pics of how all my wiring and stuff turned out when it was completely done taking the heater out. In short I ran it kinda low, probably right around the bottom of that square hole, the up over the blower. I just used zip ties that have a loop for screwing them to something to hold everything in place.
Personaly I say Pull the motor and go to town cleaning it all up and making it the way you want it. Much easier than doing it with everything in there.

I'm keeping the heater box, and my brother is making me something out of sheet metal for it to still work, i'll post pics later.

Cool, maybe someone could develope a tech article with all the different options then as far as A/C and heater removals ???
Im starting to see why everyone calls you a Post *****, Everytime I try to do some work I look up and you got another post
I got along way to go but maybe some day Ill get up in the 1000s too, lol

I'll put in a vote for rear intake manifold gasket. Water & oil - yup!

unless you spilled some coolant when you pulled the box....could be oil pressure sending unit, although it does sit more on the other side. Also I'm not sure where you are hooked up.....I'm trying to be optimistic here...but it does sound like intake problems. Did you have any temp problems or idle probs?
No temp problems. Only idle problem I have is every 5 secs or so the idle will drop by 50. I found another plug laying on a header today, but it's ok, I have heat wrap on the wires.

u c if the intake is leaking it would cause messed up idle probs. but the idle goes down. thats not what a vacum leak would do it would raise your idle just spray some wd-40 around the carb and the intake and check for change in the idle
also is the piece u pulled out 2 pieces. cuz i looked at mine and it looks as if i can just take the air con side out and leave the heater blower part

It's one piece. I had my brother cut it in half and he's goin to fab up a piece at work tomorrow so it'll work but won't be so bulky.

Thats kick *** having all that room. I'm in the process of doing the same thing. Where did you find the two bolts on the inside of the car?
Those two bolts are under the carpet on the firewall.
Mark - you'll love all the room. I do
