Fuel pump questions
Fuel pump questions
Im gonna keep it short and sweet...
When i shut car off.. fuel pump does not always go off...
im 99.9% certain its the fuel pump because it makes the same noise when i first turn the key... when it primes.. ( i have a keypad kill switch kinda thing on car.. was on it when i got it.) so when i put the code in i can hear it.
anyhoo... i got under there and pulled a 3 prong connection apart right where it seems to connect to the gas tank... and the sounds stops.. reconnect .. sounds starts..
its kinda intermitent sometimes it does it everytime .. other times it doesnt...
my questions are
1) is it a ground of some sort.. if so any ideas on where to check it...
2) Im sure this is doin something bad to fuel pump... and im goin way to school in a month... and my fuel gauge hasnt worked for 3years... should i replace both and go from there.. and find problem... where at least i will have a steady pump... and not have to worry bout it quitin on me...
3) am i barkin up the rong tree?
4) anyone ever had this problem?
thanks fellas... and ladies if there are any

I'd take a close look at the pump relay and auxilliary oil pressure switch, and my guess is more likely the switch. Chances are it is being held closed by pressure trapped by debris in the oil passage to the switch or in the port of the switch itself.
