Won't hold oil pressure? How hard to change the pump?

My car is an 88 with the 305 TBI and about to turn over 86,000 miles. When I turn the motor on and its cold the fuel pressure goes up to about 45. As the motor and oil heat up the fuel pressure begins to drop. If I sit in one place and idle long enough the motor will totally shut off but starts up again right away. I don't have to worry about this problem for the first 30 min. of driving and if I stay on the gas at all it wont die so it is still driveable. I was hoping it is only my fuel pump going bad because they aren't expensive. How hard is it to change the pump and can anyone tell me how? I am changing my oil this weekend and was hoping to change the pump then.

So...just making sure I understand...your oil pressure starts out good but then your fuel pressure drops and your wiper fluid bottle pump might need changed because your AIR pump output volume is down and your exhaust backpressure gauge on the dash is reading low and it started raining out which was obviously caused by your oil pressure problem. Did I get it right?

pumps produce flow not pressure. resistance to the flow of oil produces pressure which is where the engine bearings come in to the picture.

wornout bearings and crankshaft journals will have a relatively large space in between them compared to a new or freshly rebuilt engine and result in low oil pressure in the crankcase. same is true of the camshaft & associated bearings.
