I've been playing around with my rockers and I am unclear on how far to turn them. While motor is hot and running i back off the nut until it chatters then i turn the nut with my hand until it stops. Do I then go 1/4 1/2 3/4 or 1 full turn? I've tried 1/4 and 1/2 but I dont know if I am missing out on performance comewhere. Thanks

If you are using stock flat tappet lifters and stock rockers, you should set them with the motor off.

Rotate the motor till the lifter is on the base circle, (lifter not on the lobe) loosen the rocker nut until the rocker is "loose" then tighten the nut until there is zero lash, then add 1 turn.

Some people use anywhere from 1/2 to 1 whole turn. The factory says to turn it one turn.

If you have a roller cam, I don't know if it is the same.

Lifter preload is .030" which is very close to 1/2 turn.
